A MILITARY HOME: FAYETTEVILLE PICTURES
CENTER OF THE MILITARY UNIVERSEUnfortunately, Fayetteville or (Fayetnaim) as it used to be called, isn't the most ideal place to live. For some reason the area around every military base has been downtrodden, economically depressed, and crime ridden. If you know where to look however, there are a few gems in the area, the first of them being the Fayetteville Special Forces Museum and Memorial.
It is absolutely fitting for such a place. Fayetteville is home to the largest Army Base in the country, Fort Bragg. Fort Bragg is also the home of the ever exalted Airborne and Special Operations Forces. If you live in the area its worth a visit and if your visiting it is a must.

Next, there is the Fayetteville Botanical Gardens which offer a perfect setting for walk or group event. I know it seems boring as I am one of those people who would initially scoff at the idea but if the weather's right it can be enjoyable. Check to see if there are any events going on so you can avoid big crowds. The more of this place you have to yourself the better the experience.
The foliage seems to expand with each season and there are a couple of walkways and bridges to stroll through. Sometimes there are art displays spread throughout the grounds as well as sculptures which make for interesting photos. If you are a fan of using the (macro) function on your camera or you have a professional camera that can take intricate close ups this is the place as there are a ton of bees and dragonflies.

The last place I will highlight here is Hay Street in downtown Fayetteville. It is the historical district of the area and offers a multitude of local cafes, shops, and a vintage style movie theater, The Cameo. This is by no means everything the area has to offer. Outlying places such as Pinehurst have dozens of unique shops, cafes, live entertainment and respected golf courses, if that's your thing.
Even in the summer, Hay Street is a great place to enjoy walking down as the trees offer cover from the sometimes blistering sun. Personally I find the Cameo Theater to be the best attraction on the main street. I do have optimism that some additional local shops will sprout up as there is a bit of unused commercial space there.
